There is a great analogy to help us become more critical and efficient with vim text navigation. We should see moving around in vim as painting. Instead of having painting brushes, we have many different motion brushes with many different sizes. It would be very inefficient to use a very small and fine brush when we want to paint a big surface. With this in mind, the h and l from hjkl are the finest brush we have, they are used to make 1 character motion corrections and they should be exclusively used to paint the finest motion details.
